TL;DR
Through MCP, your portal data can be pulled into ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Claude — your CRM is becoming readable from outside HubSpot.
We have written before that your website now has a second audience, and that it is not human. That argument has not changed.
What has changed is that there is finally a number attached to it.
The number arrives
HubSpot AEO is in public beta. It shows how many times your brand is mentioned when a person asks ChatGPT, Gemini or another answer engine for a recommendation, and how your competitors appear in those same responses.
Marketing Studio surfaces that visibility score alongside your normal marketing metrics — traffic, conversion, pipeline.
That placement is the part worth paying attention to.
A thing stops being a trend and becomes real when it turns into a number somebody has to explain in a Monday meeting. Traffic did that. Conversion rate did that. AI discoverability has, until now, been a conversation people had at conferences.
Within a quarter, someone in your company will be asked why that number is low. That is how behaviour actually changes.
Why this matters more than it sounds
HubSpot's own research puts organic traffic for its customers down 27% year over year. Separately, 42% of CRM buyers said they used AI search to evaluate vendors.
Put those together. Fewer people are arriving the old way, and a meaningful share of the ones who do have already formed a view of you somewhere you were not present.
The content that performs here does not look like the content that won at SEO. Clear claims, stated plainly. Questions answered directly and near the top. Specifics — numbers, names, dates — rather than adjectives. Pages that say what a company does instead of describing how transformative the journey is.
It is, broadly, better writing. Which is a strange relief after fifteen years of keyword density.
The practical test takes two minutes. Ask three different assistants what your company does and who it is for, and write down what comes back. Most teams do not like the answer.
The ad platform moved too
HubSpot is now the first CRM to integrate natively with ChatGPT Ads. Campaigns launched there attribute back to HubSpot contacts and deals alongside every other channel. There is a Microsoft Advertising integration in the same release.
Sit with that for a second. The place your buyers ask questions is now also a place you can buy attention, and the CRM you already own measures what it produced.
The part most people missed
The announcement that got the least attention may matter most.
HubSpot is broadening support for the Model Context Protocol. In practice that means portal data can be pulled into ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Claude — and third-party tools can be exposed directly inside HubSpot's own Agent Builder.
Your CRM is becoming readable from outside HubSpot.
That is a genuinely different thing to own. For years the question was which systems you integrated with. The question now is which models can read your business, what they are allowed to see, and who decided.
Most companies have not started thinking about that. There is no obvious owner for it, it does not appear on anyone's roadmap, and it will matter within a year.
Why these belong together
Separately these look like three product announcements. Together they describe one shift.
Your information is being read by machines at every stage now. A buyer's assistant reads your site before they visit it. Your own agents read your CRM before they write anything. And now outside models can reach your portal directly.
The same clear, accurate, plainly written information serves all three.
That is unusual. Most marketing work pays off in one channel. This pays off in three, and the work itself is not exotic — clear writing, specific claims, accurate records, consistency between what your site says and what your CRM holds.
We have been recommending that for years for ordinary reasons. The reasons are no longer ordinary.
What we would do this quarter
Get your baseline. Turn on the AEO beta, or just ask three assistants about your company and record the answers. You cannot improve a number you have never looked at.
Rewrite your five most important pages to be quotable. Direct answers near the top, specific claims, no adjectives doing the work of evidence.
Decide who owns AI visibility. If the answer is nobody, the score will sit there unexplained until someone senior asks about it.
Work out your position on MCP access before someone connects your portal to an outside model without asking.
Want a second opinion?
We'll audit your HubSpot portal and show you what's actually being used, what isn't, and what's worth fixing first. No charge, no obligation.
Questions we get asked about this
What is AEO and how is it different from SEO?
AEO, or answer engine optimisation, is about being surfaced and recommended inside AI assistants rather than ranking on a results page. It rewards clear, specific, quotable writing, because the assistant needs to lift an answer rather than rank a link.
How do I know if AI assistants recommend my company?
Ask three different assistants what your company does and who it is for, and record what comes back. For an ongoing measure rather than a snapshot, HubSpot's AEO beta tracks brand mentions across answer engines over time.
Can ChatGPT access my HubSpot CRM data?
HubSpot is expanding Model Context Protocol support, which allows portal data to be pulled into tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Claude. That makes access and permissions a decision worth making deliberately rather than discovering later.
Can HubSpot measure AI search visibility?
Yes. HubSpot AEO is in public beta and shows how often your brand is mentioned when someone asks an answer engine for a recommendation, including how competitors appear in the same responses. Marketing Studio displays that score alongside standard marketing metrics.
